On the cover of Issue No. 10 : Michael Shannon,an unforgettable Kentucky-born actor, and our favorite frontman of the R.E.M. cover band everyones talking about.
Also in this issue, National Book Award winner Imani Perry pens a beautiful Letter From Home, we explore mothering through climate collapse in Western North Carolina, fried fish and family affairs on Virginias Eastern Shore, two chefs – Meherwan Irani in Asheville and Frank Brigtsen in New Orleans, and a burial grounds tragic secrets in Chattanooga.
Loud and quiet. Dark and light. Horror and joy. Because all of it can exist at the same time, good storytelling explores these dichotomies. As we make our way through these terribly fraught times, we will do our best to get that mix right.
Glad were in this together, y’all.
