CAD Audio M179 Variable Pattern Condenser Microphone
The M179 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for studio recording, live sound, broadcast, and content production. Its continuously variable polar pattern control allows the pickup response to be adjusted from omnidirectional through cardioid to figure-8, providing flexible control over room ambience, source isolation, and microphone technique.
A 1.1in dual-diaphragm, externally biased capsule with gold-sputtered diaphragms delivers detailed and natural sound reproduction. The pattern control includes a firm center detent for quickly selecting a precise cardioid response.
The transformerless balanced output circuit provides clean, transparent signal transfer, while the selectable 20dB pad allows the microphone to handle sound pressure levels up to 143dB. A 100Hz high-pass filter helps reduce rumble, handling noise, and excessive low-frequency buildup. An internal stainless-steel filter provides additional protection against plosives and electromagnetic interference.
